GTA 6 Characters & Story: Jason, Lucia and the Cast of Leonida

GTA 6 gives the series its first true dual-protagonist love story: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, a couple bound together by a heist gone sideways and a state full of bad options. Rockstar pitches it simply — if anything happens, it’s them against everyone. Here’s every character officially revealed so far.

Lucia Caminos

The first female lead in a mainline GTA since the top-down era — and the story’s engine. Lucia grew up in Liberty City fighting for her family, and her fists got her into trouble; the game opens with her fresh out of prison in Leonida, determined never to be powerless again. Officially described as a calculated risk-taker with everything to prove.

Jason Duval

An ex-Army washout who drifted to the Keys and fell in with drug runners as a fixer-for-hire. Jason wants an easy life, but Leonida keeps making it complicated. Where Lucia calculates, Jason improvises. Their chemistry — switching between both mid-mission — is the story’s core mechanic.

The confirmed supporting cast

Cal Hampton — Jason’s paranoid conspiracy-theorist friend, happiest monitoring air traffic from his couch with the shades drawn. Comic relief with a survivalist streak.

Boobie Ike — A Vice City legend: strip club owner, recording-studio boss and self-made mogul turning street reputation into an empire. His orbit pulls Jason and Lucia into the city’s music-money underworld.

Dre’Quan Priest — An ambitious music manager running the Only Raw Records label with dreams far bigger than his roster, working alongside Boobie.

Real Dimez — Rap duo Bae-Luxe and Roxy — social-media-era stars whose clout opens doors that guns can’t.

Raul Bautista — A seasoned bank robber and crew leader who recruits talent for high-stakes scores. If GTA 6 has a heist mastermind, it’s Raul.

Brian Heder — A legendary drug runner from the Keys’ golden smuggling era, now living out his days with a boat, a bar tab and connections everywhere. Jason’s landlord and reluctant mentor.

The story setup

Rockstar’s official synopsis: Jason and Lucia, thrown together by chance, get caught in the fallout of a scheme gone wrong across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than they’d like as a criminal conspiracy tightens around them. The Bonnie-and-Clyde framing isn’t subtle, and that’s the point: it’s the first GTA built around a relationship rather than a rise-to-power solo arc.

What the Extended Look showed about the pair

The August 27 Extended Look is built almost entirely around Jason and Lucia together, and it settled several open questions:

  • Story length: around 80 hours, per Rob Nelson, co-studio head of Rockstar North — main story plus narrative-driven side content, on his own playthrough.
  • Switching is seamless and works mid-action. The showcase has one of them driving while the other leans out and shoots during a police chase.
  • The romance is optional and carries no gameplay advantage. It’s characterisation, not a stat bonus — you can play the partnership as purely professional.
  • A Criminal Profile replaces Red Dead’s honor meter. Clean, disciplined crime is rewarded; indiscriminate violence is penalised. It tracks how you work, not who you love.

Plenty of the runtime is just the two of them living: shopping, the gym, riding along in a taxi and talking.

What we don’t know yet

  • Total mission count
  • Whether characters beyond Jason and Lucia are ever playable
  • The main antagonist (Rockstar has kept this fully under wraps)

We’ll update this guide as Rockstar reveals more, and our full character database goes live with the game on November 19, 2026.

FAQ

Can you play as both Jason and Lucia? Yes — both are fully playable, with the ability to switch between them during and outside missions.

Is Lucia the first female GTA protagonist? First in a modern mainline entry. The original 1997 GTA technically offered female player characters, but Lucia is the first fully realized female lead.

Do choices affect the story? Rockstar hasn’t detailed branching narrative mechanics. GTA 5 had minor choice moments; whether GTA 6 goes further is unknown.

Who is the villain of GTA 6? Not yet revealed — every trailer has focused on the leads and the world.
