The GTA 6 Map: Everything We Know About Leonida

GTA 6 trades a single city for an entire state: Leonida, Rockstar’s take on Florida. Vice City is its beating neon heart, but this time it’s one region among many — swamps, islands, beach towns and backwoods included. Here’s every area Rockstar has officially showcased.

This guide covers what’s confirmed before launch. On November 19, CoastLoot’s interactive Leonida map goes live — every location, collectible and point of interest, searchable and trackable.

Vice City

The Miami-inspired metropolis returns for the first time since 2006’s Vice City Stories — and it’s unrecognizable in the best way. Expect South Beach-style strip, art deco hotels, glittering downtown towers and neighborhoods that Rockstar says are its most detailed urban environment ever. Jason and Lucia’s story runs through Vice City’s underworld, from street-level hustles to the empire of music mogul Boobie Ike.

Leonida Keys

Rockstar’s version of the Florida Keys: a chain of islands strung together by long ocean highways, ending at Ambrosia Keys-style tropical outposts. Trailer footage shows boating, diving and beach-town life — strongly suggesting water gameplay is a major feature this time.

Grassrivers

The Everglades, in everything but name. Swamplands, airboats, alligators and communities living deep in the wetlands. If you saw the viral trailer shots of gators wandering into convenience stores — that energy lives here.

Port Gellhorn

A faded Gulf-coast port town inspired by Florida’s panhandle. Trailer 2 showed its dilapidated motels, dive bars and demolition-derby track. Early impressions suggest this is where the story’s “small-town crime” chapters play out.

Mount Kalaga

Yes, GTA 6 has highlands — Mount Kalaga National Park brings pine forest, hiking country and off-road terrain, a first for a series that’s mostly stayed at sea level.

Ambrosia

Sugar-refinery country inland — industrial farmland with its own rough-edged character, seen briefly in official material.

Community sleuths have also spotted references to additional areas (like a “Hamlet” region) in promotional material. We’ll confirm the full region list the moment the game is out.

How big is the map?

Rockstar hasn’t published official numbers, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Based on trailer analysis by the community, expectations point to a map meaningfully larger than GTA 5’s Los Santos and Blaine County combined — with far more of it being playable coastline and water. Whatever the final number, it’s the density Rockstar is selling: their stated goal is the most detailed and alive world they’ve ever built.

FAQ

Is the whole map open from the start? Rockstar hasn’t confirmed whether regions unlock progressively. GTA 5 opened its full map immediately; GTA 4 gated islands behind story progress. We’ll know at launch.

Is Vice City the same as the 2002 game’s map? No — this is a completely rebuilt, modern Vice City, far larger and denser than the PS2-era version.

Can you enter buildings? Trailer 2 and official screenshots show far more interiors than any previous GTA, including shops, motels and clubs. The full count is unknown.

Will the map expand after launch? Nothing announced. GTA Online historically added new areas sparingly; any GTA 6 expansion talk is pure speculation right now.
