GTA 6 Vice City: Everything We Know About the New Vice City

Twenty-four years after the 2002 classic, Vice City is back — rebuilt from the ground up as the beating heart of GTA 6’s Leonida. This is not a remaster and not the same city: it’s Rockstar’s modern Miami, dense with neon, money and trouble. Here’s everything officially confirmed.

The city Rockstar has shown

Both trailers lean hard on Vice City. Trailer 1 opens on the beach strip — art-deco pastels, rollerbladers, crowded sand. Trailer 2 goes downtown: glass towers, rooftop pools, a freeway stack mid-chase, and clubs pulsing at night. Rockstar’s official site describes Vice City as the place where fortune favors the bold and everyone’s hustling.

Confirmed districts

  • Vice Beach — the barrier-island beach strip. Ocean-drive hotels, lifeguard towers, an outdoor muscle gym and a boardwalk that Trailer 1 made instantly iconic.
  • Little Cuba — café culture, domino tables and dense street life west of downtown, straight from Rockstar’s official location descriptions.
  • Downtown Vice City — the high-rise core shown throughout Trailer 2, from rooftop pool parties to the elevated freeway weave.

Every one of these is pinned on our interactive Leonida map, along with landmarks like the marina, the amusement pier and the container port.

What the Extended Look added

The August 27 Extended Look was the first time Rockstar showed Vice City in motion as gameplay rather than cutscene, and it came with a scale figure: Vice City on its own is roughly twice the size of Los Santos, per Rockstar developers in press previews. That makes it the largest city Rockstar has ever built.

Three places got names for the first time:

  • Effluvia — a rooftop bar used as a mission hub, where Jason and Lucia meet contacts
  • Megamundo HQ — the offices of an in-world satirical TV network, and the setting for a shootout
  • Bayside — a built-out bayfront area of storefronts and beach access, packed with side activities: basketball, jet skis, kayaking, the gym, boating

The presentation also made the city the hardest place in the state to escape police. Three stars or higher inside Vice City is punishing, because the streets are narrow and the traffic is dense — the open state is where you actually lose a chase.

Character connections

Vice City is where most of the confirmed cast operates. Boobie Ike runs a strip club, a recording studio and a growing empire here, per his official bio. Dre’Quan Priest works the music-money angle through Only Raw Records. And the story’s engine — Jason and Lucia — get pulled into the city’s orbit when their quiet arrangement goes wrong.

How it compares to 2002’s Vice City

The original Vice City was a period piece — 1986, Scarface energy, two islands. The new Vice City is modern-day, social-media-era Miami: influencers, crypto-adjacent money and street rap culture alongside the old neon. Expect callbacks (the preorder bonus is literally called the Vintage Vice City Pack), but this is a new city, not nostalgia on rails.

What’s not confirmed yet

  • District count — there are certainly more neighborhoods than the ones named so far
  • Whether classic locations (Malibu Club, Ocean View Hotel) return as easter eggs
  • How much of the city is enterable — leaks suggest far more interiors than GTA 5, unverified
